Currently, we have a sanity system that just needs a partial rework. For anyone curious, it is the one that is currently publicly available on the Helix Discord. We want to reconfigure this system to decay only when players are in the darkness and there is no nearby lightsource (Ie; there is no map lightsource, there is no fire source, and their flashlights are off). Furthermore, we want a decay modifier for when they are around other players or not. This is dependent on if it is possible to make this work in a way that does not affect server performance. In addition, we also want more visual effects to be present. A vignette to appear around the screen and for it to darken the less sanity that a player has, and for more audio cues to play and for 'shadows' to appear at the edge of their screen. We have another plugin we'd be happy to share to showcase ways this could be done, as we only want this to affect the client; Not appear serverside.
What we are looking to have adjusted:
- Sanity decays in the darkness when no other light source is present (Fire, Map Lighting, or player flashlights)
- A sanity decay modifier (if performance permitting*) that reacts to when they're near other players (Makes the decay slower while in darkness, so long as you're around other players; Perhaps uses chat distance to calculate this.).
- (Concept - If performance permitting) Sanity decays when witnessing a player die (10%?)
- Visual Effects
- Vignette gradually intensifies based on players sanity (Sane - No Vignette. Anything below sane, the Vignette begins to slowly appear & intensifies)
- 'Shadows' appear around the edges of the screen, walking past on the clientside. (Performance dependent)
- Attribute debuffs + colour-coded visualization for sanity loss.
What we are looking for in a developer:
- A skilled IX developer with an active portfolio regarding IX development/plugin creation
